Robust, reliable telephony at your event
Communication by phone is critical at events for those off and on-site. Push-to-talk radios are the preferred choice for quick communication whilst VoIP systems provide high quality internal and external calling. However, sites may require an emergency off site communication method should power fail for an extended period.
Classic phone lines
The standard ‘BT’ phone line (also called ‘PSTN’ or plain standard telephone line) is used by many events for emergency communications. Since classic phone lines do not require power, they make a sensible backup for offsite communications in the result of extended power outage. A direct copper cable is installed from the on-site demarcation point to a temporary location.
Etherlive works closely with Openreach (or whichever provider is used) to arrange temporary service to be installed at the appropriate date and location. Engineers will meet on-site to install the connection, typically two weeks before the event, to ensure services have been tested when the production team arrives. Some licence authorities require sites to have classic phone lines for emergency calling should site power fail for an extended period.
